Oh, I know. You don’t need permission to create. And you certainly don’t need other people to give you permission to create.
You have creative ideas and a spark. You have the supplies. You have the ideas. You have the space or studio. You have the support system in place. You have EVERYTHING you need to fill your life and yourself with your creative dreams.
But……
You don’t actually create what you REALLY want to create.
WHY?
Have you ever asked yourself what you are waiting for?
When I asked myself why wasn’t I living the creative life I desperately wanted, I realized I needed to get into A Creative Mindset, harness my fears, deal with my various barriers to creativity, and give myself permission to create.
Here is MY permission slip I recently created for my artwork:
Have YOU given yourself permission to create how you REALLY want?
As a creative spirit, it is ok…no, it’s perfectly fine, no..scratch that…it is NECESSARY for you to give yourself permission to be creative. I believe creativity is a part of who we are and it is how we express ourselves. By denying ourselves the ability to create meaningful jobs, lives, relationships, works of art…you name it…we are slowly dying inside. And to top it off, our outside lives don’t feel purposeful, fulfilling or meaningful.
I certainly felt this for years until I awakened my creativity and embraced my passion to inspire, motivate, and empower others with their creative dreams.
Start today and give yourself the freedom to create your life, passions, and art the way you think and dream about.
Before giving yourself permission, do these 3 things:
- Think about what you REALLY want. It can be creating a product, creating a feeling, creating a family, creating the most perfect birthday cake for your son. For me, I wanted my artwork to express my values of living authentically, joyfully, and expression.
- Ask yourself why aren’t you doing it? What are your fears around this? Then restate your fear giving yourself permission to conquer it. If you fear making a mistake, then give yourself permission to make lots of them!
- Then fill in the blank below and say it loud and clear so your inner creative spirit hears and believes you.
I give myself permission to:
(and fill in that blank)
Which of these permissions resonate with you? Which do you need to give to yourself?
Permission to …..
- be a beginner
- make mistakes
- learn from others
- try a new medium
- take a risk
- fail big
- take little steps
- just play
- have more fun
- enjoy my success
- just begin somewhere
- show up and not do anything
- believe in my dream
- believe in myself that I AM an artist/creative/poet/sculptor/rock star…
I fully admit…EVERY ONE of those I had to give myself permission to do, think, or feel.
Start today. Give yourself permission as YOU need it. Say it out loud right now!
I give myself permission to:
Tell yourself every day! (coach’s orders)
